I´ve been starting drawing a little bit again for the last few weeks... sometimes funny things happen when you draw - like on this one picture, I showed separately to my boys and both of them said the same thing: "ohhh you where drawing yourself"!!
I guess I might have been drawing myself, without knowing it... I´ve always wanted to know how it feels to fly away with my umbrella...
Welcome! Velkomin! Wilkommen! Bienvenue!

my summer
This summer has been so wonderful with a lot of sunny, warm and happy days. I´ve spent most of my time with my boys outside enjoying live. We´ve had so much fun...
we spent some time, discovering the wonders of the city center of Reykjavík...
on adventure with friends
ohhh... what fun the 4 of them had together!
a visit at the concert hall
we also went camping at Seljalandsfoss, this was our view the entire weekend
we went swimming in one of my favorite hot springs, during our camping trip
the walk back to our car after the swimming
We also spent 1 week in the amazing Westfjords, where we rented a house in a village called Suðureyri.
our house is the small one with the blue roof in the middle
Súgandafjörður, where Suðureyri is
we drove through tunnels every day...
and through a lot of fjords on streets like this...
we visited the house where my grandmother was born and lived with her family as a child
(Stapadalur, Arnarfjörður)
inside my grandmothers house
Arnarfjörður is such a beautiful place
of course we went to my grandmothers beach...
... and found some treasures
Driving back from Stapadalur (vegurinn fyrir nes) was an adventure... at times we wondered if the road went on or not...
... but it was one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced
white sand in Arnarfjörður (Stapadalur at the back)
Reykjafjarðarlaug, the biggest hot pot in Iceland - the view was amazing
At Dynjandi
Another hot spring, Pollurinn at Tálknafjörður
The view from Pollurinn
What a wonderful summer.... now I'm ready for fall and wintertime!

A giant
Two day´s ago, inspired by pictures of hand carved crochet hooks on the internet, I got this great idea: why not make my own oversize crochet hook? I was so very excited about this idea, that I went straight out on my balcony at 10 o´clock in the evening (it´s still quite bright in the night at that time in Iceland at the moment) with: a branch of a pine tree (smells like christmas :-), my cute little saw, my wonderful carving knife and some sandpaper and started working on my giant.
My mission was a success - after a while, I actually had a well working, oversize crochet hook and I still can´t believe I did it. Of course I had to test it out immediately... I used 6 strands of plötulopi & 2 strands of einband and made a classic granny. At first I had to figure out how to use this huge thing but after that it was a piece of cake and so much fun!
Now I can´t wait to try out some other, more complicated granny´s and see how they turn out!
My giant hook is about 20cm long and has a diameter of 2,5-3 cm
just to show you the difference:
It still smells like christmas...
Huge granny (27x27 cm) and a normal granny (12x12cm)
So squishy, soft and cosy...
